Behaviour Consultations

The Davis Family & Monty (German Shepherd - Agression Issues)

We have owned GSDs for many years and thought we knew the breed well, but Faye has taught us so much more. Monty was severely fear aggressive. He bonded to my husband and I relatively quickly, but he was scared of my teenage son (for no reason we could see) and had bitten him. After Faye's visit, we followed her instructions, and now Monty chooses to be with our son, and it's a complete joy seeing them cuddled up together. My Inlaws live in an adjoining annex and so it was important for them to also be able to trust Monty. Monty had already bitten my mother in-law making her very fearful of him, and my father in-law is scared of large dogs, and neither of them is any good at hiding their fear. Following Faye's excellent advice, we have now got to the stage where they are able to come in and are now able to move freely around the house, albeit slowly at the moment. This includes going up and down stairs which was one of his major trigger points. This meant that they were able to come and enjoy Christmas with us and Monty got to learn that sometimes visitors bring nice things with them!

With other visitors to the house Monty is still nervous but with Faye's techniques we are able to manage the situation safely. The one thing we didn't expect was his reaction when my son had three friends stay -all large, noisy teenagers. We couldn't believe how relaxed Monty was with them, he even approached one and thoroughly sniffed him, before going to his bed and falling asleep.

Since Faye explained how to read his body language, and explained why he acts the way he does, we have been able to change him from a very stressed little boy, to a wonderful, funny, cuddly family pet. He is not perfect, and we have to be very careful around visitors, but we are now far more confident in our handling of him. Thanks to Faye, we can see the beautiful, friendly dog he will become.

Sally Wright, Hereford & Worcester Animal Rescue, Fostering & Transport Co-ordinator

Faye took Zac, a giant dobermann type, on foster for us when he came in with a variety of issues which would have made him difficult to manage and rehome. These included apparent aggression to onlead dogs, and being very hard work to walk. Faye was able to identify what made Zac tick, and turn him around relatively quickly, to make him a much easier dog to live with. I have recommended Faye with only good reports back, and would not hesitate to do so again.

The O'connor Family & Brenna (Toy Poodle - Separation Anxiety)

Brenna has improved very significantly since we began to implement Faye's instructions. He is much more relaxed in his crate and goes in voluntarily. When we leave him we come home to a quiet puppy. He has also stopped following us around so much and his greetings are calmer. We are very grateful for Faye's help and for her ongoing email support and advice which has been invaluable since it it often difficult to stick to training without support. Since Faye's visits we feel we now have more confidence to deal with Brenna and as a result, we are enjoying him much more. Thank you.

The Vine Family & Dougal (Terrier Collie x - Excitement, Play Biting)

Dougal was a stray and had a few homes before I rescued him. My main problem, apart from his over zelous behaviour, has been to try to understand why he might behave in the way he does and, as he is not food motivated, to find a way to motivate him.

Faye has been extremely helpful in this processand has really helped Douggie and I to move forward to slightly more acceptable behaviour (from him!).

He is a work in progress as I find ways (with Faye's help) to motivate him to behave well and to stop being so reliant on me.

Training Classes

"Because Roly was a new rescue dog, a new breed to me, and hot on the heels of a few hair raising experiences with other rescue dogs, I had lost my confidence. I cannot imagine a better trainer to build or instil confidence. The environment is safe and supportive and you have gone beyond the call of duty from the beginning to offer advice and practical help with Roly. I am now truly happy and confident with Roly thanks to your style of training. I always felt comfortable and able to ask questions. This is the best course I have attended, it is very thoughtful and personal. I like the fact that you shared experiences, good and not so good, and made everything seem attainable. Wishing you all the very best for the future."

"I have found it very interesting learning a little about dog psychology and how they can think for themselves if given the opportunity. Thank you very much for all your help and advice - it has certainly helped us during our first few weeks with Coco. I for one feel a lot more confident now than I did at the start of the course."

"We are really happy with how well our dog has done in the six week course. He is much friendlier towards other dogs and responds so well to a clicker. Faye is a very calm yet firm teacher and explains the exercises very well. Thank you for your help."

"We would just like to say a massive thank you for all of your help with Humphrey over the last six months or so. We really do appreciate it. You have gone out of your way to help us emotionally as well as work with Humphrey. We feel that without your help Humphrey would not be with us today. We will continue to put into practice all of the techniques that you have taught us. I am sure that this won't be the last time you see us. Thanks again."

"Just on our way back from Crufts and had to tell you that Django has been an absolute angel all day! Thank you so much for your help and advice. We are delighted!"

"My dog is so much better when out with other dogs and people!"
